Curettage of multiple skin lesions is a dermatological procedure used for mechanical removal of multiple superficial skin lesions, such as molluscum contagiosum or other benign skin formations.
Molluscum contagiosum is a viral skin infection characterized by the appearance of small, round papules, skin-colored or slightly pearly. These lesions can appear in large numbers and can be transmitted through direct contact or by autoinoculation.
The curettage procedure consists of removing lesions with the aid of a special medical instrument called a curette, which allows extraction of the lesion contents and their elimination from the skin surface.
Treatment for more than 5 lesions can be performed during the same session, with the procedure being rapid and efficient. Depending on the number and location of the lesions, local anesthesia may be used for patient comfort.
Curettage of multiple skin lesions presents several advantages:
After the procedure, treated areas may present mild redness or small crusts, which generally heal within a few days.
The procedure is performed by a dermatologist after clinical evaluation of the lesions, to establish the diagnosis and choose the optimal treatment method.
