Sebaceous cyst is a benign skin lesion that develops as a result of sebum and keratin accumulation within a sebaceous gland or hair follicle. It manifests as a nodule under the skin, usually well-demarcated, which can appear in areas such as scalp, face, neck, back, or chest.
Excision of sebaceous cyst under 3 cm represents the surgical method used for complete removal of the cyst, including its capsule, to reduce the risk of recurrence.
The procedure consists of surgical excision of the cyst, performed through a small incision at the skin level, followed by removal of the lesion and wound closure. The intervention is performed under local anesthesia, so the patient does not experience pain during the procedure.
