Removal of exophytic dermal nevus (1–3 cm)
Removal of exophytic dermal nevi of 1–3 cm is a dermatological procedure used for elimination of benign prominent moles at the skin level. The intervention is rapid, safe, and performed after clinical evaluation of the lesion, contributing to improvement of the aesthetic appearance of the skin.
Dermal nevi
Exophytic dermal nevi are benign skin lesions, also known as prominent or raised moles, which develop at the dermal level and may have a round, pedunculated, or slightly raised appearance. These formations can have variable color, ranging from skin tone to shades of brown.
Removal of exophytic dermal nevi measuring between 1 and 3 cm is recommended when the lesion causes aesthetic discomfort, repeated irritation from friction or trauma, or when the physician considers removal necessary for further evaluation.
The procedure typically consists of surgical excision of the lesion, performed with a precise incision at the skin level. The intervention is performed under local anesthesia, so the patient does not experience pain during the procedure.
After removal of the lesion, the area is sutured to allow for optimal healing and favorable aesthetic outcome. The physician provides recommendations regarding postprocedural care and recovery period.
In certain situations, the excised lesion may be sent for histopathological examination, to confirm the diagnosis.
Removal of dermal nevi presents several benefits:
- complete removal of the lesion
- safe and effective procedure
- improvement of skin aesthetic appearance
- possibility of histopathological evaluation, if necessary
The procedure duration is generally 20–40 minutes, depending on the size and location of the lesion.
