Dermatologic surgery
Curettage of skin lesions is a dermatological procedure used for mechanical removal of formations at the level of the skin, such as molluscum contagiosum or other superficial lesions.
Molluscum contagiosum is a skin condition of viral origin, characterized by the appearance of small, round papules, skin-colored or slightly pearly. Lesions can appear on different areas of the body and can be transmitted through direct contact.
The curettage procedure consists of removing the lesion using a special medical instrument called a curette, which allows extraction of the lesion content and its elimination from the skin level.
The intervention is rapid and minimally invasive, being performed in the dermatology office. Depending on the number and location of lesions, local anesthesia may be used for patient comfort.
Curettage of skin lesions presents several advantages:
- rapid removal of lesions
- minimally invasive procedure
- short intervention time
- effective result for superficial lesions
After the procedure, the treated area may present slight redness or a small crust, which generally heals within a few days.
The procedure is performed by a dermatologist after clinical evaluation of the lesions, to establish the diagnosis and choose the optimal treatment method.
