Lipolysis with deoxycholic acid (Lipolax is an aesthetic medicine procedure used to treat localized fat deposits in the submental area, commonly known as "double chin". Deoxycholic acid is a substance with specific action on adipose cells, contributing to their destruction and reduction of adipose tissue volume.
After injection, adipose cells are broken down, and the body eliminates them naturally over time. This process leads to thinning of the treated area and improvement of facial contour.
The procedure is minimally invasive and is performed in a medical office. After treatment, temporary local reactions may occur, such as edema, sensitivity, or mild inflammation, which are common and resolve progressively.
Treatment is recommended for patients with moderate fat deposits in the submental area, without significant skin excess, being an effective alternative to surgical interventions.
To achieve optimal results, generally 2–4 sessions are necessary, determined based on the amount of fat and individual response to treatment.
