Excision of multiple sebaceous cysts

Sebaceous cysts are benign skin formations that develop through the accumulation of sebum and keratin within a sebaceous gland or hair follicle. These present as well-demarcated subcutaneous nodules and frequently appear on areas such as scalp, face, neck, back, or chest.

Excision of multiple sebaceous cysts is a minor surgical procedure used for simultaneous removal of multiple sebaceous cysts, in a single intervention. This approach allows efficient treatment of multiple lesions, reducing the need for separate procedures.

The intervention consists of surgical excision of each cyst, with complete removal of its capsule, to reduce the risk of recurrence. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so the patient does not experience pain during the intervention.

After cyst removal, the wounds are sutured, and the physician provides recommendations regarding post-procedural care and healing period. In certain situations, the excised tissue may be sent for histopathological examination, to confirm the diagnosis.
