Excision of a skin lesion with size under 1 cm represents a surgical procedure used for complete removal of various skin formations. This is frequently performed for moles (nevi), cysts, keratosis, fibromas or other skin lesions that require treatment or further evaluation.
The procedure consists of surgical excision of the lesion, performed through a precise skin incision, followed by wound closure to allow optimal healing. The intervention is performed under local anesthesia, so the patient does not feel pain during the procedure.
In certain situations, the excised lesion may be sent for histopathological examination, to confirm the diagnosis and rule out any pathological changes.
