About this specialty
Surgical blepharoplasty is an aesthetic surgery procedure aimed at correcting excess skin, fat bags, and skin laxity at the level of the upper and/or lower eyelids. With advancing age, the skin around the eyes loses its elasticity, and fat deposits may become more visible, resulting in a tired or aged appearance of the face.
Through this intervention, the surgeon removes excess skin and, if necessary, surplus fat, contributing to restoring a younger, brighter, and more rested appearance of the eyes. In certain cases, the procedure may also have functional benefits, when excess skin of the upper eyelids affects the visual field.
Blepharoplasty can be performed at the level of:
- upper eyelids
- lower eyelids
- or combined, for a complete aesthetic result
The intervention is usually performed under local anesthesia or sedation, and the recovery period is relatively short. Most patients can resume their usual activities in approximately 7–10 days, as swelling and bruising diminish.
The results are long-lasting and contribute to achieving a younger, brighter, and more expressive gaze, while maintaining the natural appearance of facial features.
