What is vascular laser

Vascular laser is a technology that uses light energy to target visible blood vessels in the skin.

Light is absorbed by hemoglobin, which leads to:

  • heating the vessel
  • coagulating it
  • gradual disappearance of the lesion

What is it used for

Vascular laser is used for:

  • broken capillary vessels (telangiectasia)
  • facial redness (rosacea)
  • couperose
  • fine veins on the legs
  • hemangiomas

How the procedure works

  • laser energy is directed toward the blood vessels
  • they are "closed" without affecting surrounding tissue
  • the body gradually eliminates them

The procedure is precise and controlled.

How the treatment progresses

The procedure lasts between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the treated area.

Steps:

  1. Skin cleansing
  2. Eye protection
  3. Laser application to the affected area
  4. Application of soothing gel (optional)

It does not require anesthesia in most cases.

When results appear

  • some vessels disappear immediately
  • some fade over several weeks
  • multiple sessions may be necessary

Instructions before the procedure

For safety and efficiency:

2 weeks before:

  • avoid sun exposure
  • avoid tanning (natural or artificial)

A few days before:

  • avoid irritating products (retinol, acids)
  • avoid peels

Instructions after vascular laser

For proper healing:

In the first few days:

  • avoid sun exposure
  • apply SPF 50 sunscreen
  • avoid excessive heat (sauna, hot baths)

Other recommendations:

  • avoid intense physical exercise
  • do not apply harsh products to the skin

Reactions after the procedure

These are normal and temporary:

  • redness
  • mild swelling
  • slight burning sensation

These usually disappear within a few days.

Who is NOT a suitable candidate

The procedure is not recommended:

  • during pregnancy (relative contraindication)
  • during active skin infections
  • on recently tanned skin
  • in certain dermatological conditions

Advantages of vascular laser

  • non-invasive procedure
  • no recovery time
  • visible results
  • precise treatment

A single injection for cholesterol — from dreams to first human results

A Phase 1 trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine (November 2025) brings remarkable results: a single infusion of CTX310, a CRISPR-Cas9 therapy developed by Cleveland Clinic and CRISPR Therapeutics, reduced LDL cholesterol by up to 49% and triglycerides by up to 55% in patients with refractory dyslipidemia — without serious adverse events. The mechanism is unique: instead of blocking a protein or interfering with its mRNA, CTX310 permanently edits the ANGPTL3 gene in hepatic cells, mimicking a natural mutation associated with reduced cardiovascular risk throughout life. The therapy is currently in Phase 1b clinical stage, with updates expected in the second half of 2026. It is not approved and does not replace current treatments.
